Unidentified Burnt Body Found on Highway Identified as ASI Golapi

Junagarh/Trilok News(Swastideep Aditya):On Sunday morning,a shocking incident unfolded near Banamalipur Chowk on National Highway 26,connecting Junagarh and Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district.A charred dead body, found lying alongside a burnt motorcycle,was later identified as that of Assistant Sub-Inspector(ASI) Pabitra Golapi (age 43). The deceased was a resident of Sanadubuli village under Boipariguda Police Station in Koraput district.At the time of his death,ASI Golapi was posted at Kegaon Police Station in Kalahandi but had recently been suspended from duty at the end of the previous month due to alleged negligence.Following his suspension,he was serving at the police reserve office in Bhawanipatna.On Saturday late night, he was reportedly traveling from Bhawanipatna to Koraput on his motorcycle.According to police sources, while en route,his motorcycle collided with a stationary truck near Banamalipur Chowk.The collision resulted in a fire that engulfed both the motorcycle and ASI Golapi,leading to his death on the spot due to severe burns.On receiving information,the local police rushed to the scene on Sunday morning, accompanied by a scientific team and sniffer dogs,and initiated an investigation.It was also reported that a police officer from Koraput and some local residents had witnessed the accident during the night and later informed the police.Meanwhile, Junagarh IIC Seshadeb Behera confirmed that efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend the truck involved in the accident.The deceased’s family has been informed,and the police will proceed with the formal recovery of the body upon their arrival.
